THE CONGRESS OF DEMOCRATIC UZBEKISTAN

DECLARATION: It is affirmed that on June 11, 2005, a group of Uzbeks met in Washington D.C. for the first time and decided to organize and establish a forum, henceforth to be called The Congress of Democratic Uzbekistan, abbreviated as, CDU.

 

BASIC GOALS OF DCU:

 

1.In light of tragic and bloody massacres that occurred in the industrial city of Andijon, Uzbekistan in the month of May, 2005, the organizers of DCU, decided that in order to avoid further bloodshed not only in Andijon but throughout Uzbekistan, to prevent disbursement of Democratic elements and activists in the country fearing any kind of reprisals, have Decided to unite all Uzbek Democrats. And on the positive side, to encourage the development of democratic principles and activities among the populace on that country.

 

2.The organizers of CDU openly express the fact that they are against any type of military action and strongly condemn the massacres of the innocent people by the ruling government forces. At the same time they send their condolences to the families, relatives and friends of Andijon victims. They also strongly support the US, EU and UN calls for an independent investigation of Andijon bloodshed.

 

3CDU organizers, disregarding  any preference to religion, race, language and rang of vision, support those who are for democracy, equal rights and against the dictatorial regime.

 

4.CDU organizers intend to exercise their rights to establish publications through which they would be able to inform the public about world events, human rights, advancement of democracy and fight against dictatorship, terrorism and to educate people to honor and respect democratic principles.

 

5.CDU, in compliance with the laws and regulations of this land, will be against racial, religious and national discrimination.

 

6.CDU, in light of the tragic events in Uzbekistan, will attempt to organize a conference of its own in this country by inviting democratically inclined members to discuss the crises. For this purpose the CDU selected a committee to work on this endeavor.
