We Strongly Condemn Terror!

8 July, 2005

Washington, DC

To The People of the United Kingdom and To The International Community

To His Excellency Tony Blair, Prime Minister of the UK

The Congress  of Democratic Uzbekistan strongly condemns terror attacks occurred in the United Kingdom on 7 July, 2005 and sends deepest condolences to families of killed and to all victims of this crime. We believe that all disagreements and conflicts should be resolved by democratic and peaceful means, and we totally oppose any actions leading to blood and death of innocent people.

In this regard, we call the UK government and international community of democracies at large to continue staying firm on demand for independent, international investigation on bloody events occurred in Uzbekistan's Andijon in last May.

You and your government are on the side of Uzbek people, and  these sad days Uzbek democrats are with you.

Fighting terrorism and extremism requires addressing roots of these problems and illnesses. In this regard, efforts aimed at peace and democratic reforms in Central Asia and Middle East should be strengthened significantly. The Congress  of Democratic Uzbekistan, uniting large number of Uzbekistan's pro-democracy activists, expresses its readiness to cooperate in these efforts with all interested forces.
