Uzbek Opposition is

summoning a Convention

 

 

 

On June 17th the representatives of Uzbek democrats held another meeting in Fairfax city near Washington D.C.

 

Meeting headlines were the discussions over the upcoming 2007 elections and summoning a Qurultay (Convention) to reach a decision of nominating one candidate from the United Opposition.

 

The final outcome of the meeting based on the demands from a range of democratic organizations, movements, human rights organizations and popular opposition activists to decide on one candidate in the next elections.

 

The chairman of The Congress of Democratic Uzbekistan Jahangir Mamatov, the leader of  Ozod Dehqonlar” party Muhammad Babur Malikov , “Birlik” party’s leader Abdurahim Polatov and also the representatives of other groups who were not intended to face another loss in the next elections, welcomed the Qurultay.

 

The meeting attendees Tursunpulot Nazarov, Hamza Ergashev, Zakir Aliev, Ilhom Isaqov, Jamshid Ochilov, Ikram Abdukarimov, Khudaykul  Hafizov, Nusrat Tursunov and others called every party, movement, organization and groups which are not ignorant to the future of Uzbekistan for unity in a struggle for democracy and particapate  to convention.
